2023 US Flag stamp

With the 2023 U.S. Flag stamp, the U.S. Postal Service honors an important symbol of our nation. The flag serves as a visual reminder of the array of freedoms that Americans enjoy. This stamp displays the banner in its full glory, seven red and six white bars straight and true, with 50 white stars sharply defined on a blue field.

The flag's design dates to 1777, when the Continental Congress specified 13 horizontal stripes and 13 stars to honor the 13 original colonies. Various versions of the early flag continued to be used until, in 1818, the U.S. Congress standardized the design, mandating 13 stripes forever but a star for every state.

In the mid-1950s, anticipating statehood for both Alaska and Hawaii, President Dwight D. Eisenhower appointed a committee to create designs for two new flags. The last time the flag's design changed was July 4, 1960, with the entrance of Hawaii into the United States the previous August.

The U.S. Flag Forever stamp will be sold in booklets and panes of 20, and coils of 100, 3,000 and 10,000. Providing a solid foundation for the flag is the word FREEDOM.

Antonio Alcalá, an art director for USPS, designed the stamp with existing art by Hong Li.

The route, which had been abandoned by other ground transportation providers during the Covid-19 pandemic, will feature seven day a week service with stops in Chatham, London, and Windsor.

"We are incredibly excited to bring Trailways' affordable, comfortable, and eco-friendly service to the communities across Ontario and Michigan," said Alex Berardi, President of Trailways.ca. "Canadians across Ontario deserve a quality and affordable means of mobility – and we are proud to fill that void."

Communities across Ontario are anxiously preparing for the return of service. "Transit Windsor is excited for Trailways' entry into the Canadian market and is delighted that inter-city coach service is returning to the Windsor International Transit Terminal," said Transit Windsor Executive Director Tyson Cragg. "Trailways' daily departures to Detroit, as well as points east like London and Toronto will provide enhanced service to Windsor-Essex residents, along with convenient connections to Transit Windsor routes."

The new service, which represents a hassle-free alternative to the challenges presented by post pandemic airline and car travel, will be operated by Trailways of New York's new low emission motor coaches that feature complimentary wi-fi, electrical outlets, on-board restrooms, and seating for persons with disabilities. Four daily trips will allow travelers leaving Toronto, Ontario to reach many destinations beginning at only $38 CAD:

Grady Celebrates Opening of Correll Pavilion

Grady Health System, community stakeholders, and government leaders gathered Monday for a ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Correll Pavilion, Grady's brand-new outpatient facility.

The Correll Pavilion, which is adjacent to Grady Memorial Hospital in downtown Atlanta, is Grady's largest investment in 30 years. The 10-story, 600,000-square-foot facility houses several services, including outpatient surgery, imaging, rehabilitation, and three pharmacies. It also features multiple specialty clinics, including ophthalmology, GI, ENT, oral surgery, and orthopedics. Grady's cancer center is also located in the new pavilion.

"The opening of Correll Pavilion ushers in a new era of healthcare for Grady Health System and the entire city of Atlanta," said John Haupert, Grady's president and CEO. "During a time when other health systems are closing their doors, this state-of-the-art facility symbolizes Grady's unwavering commitment to improving the health of our community by continuing to invest in the people we are privileged to serve."

The Correll Pavilion opens at a critical time in Atlanta's healthcare landscape. The new facility allows Grady, now the city's only Level 1 trauma center, to serve even more patients at its main campus, increasing clinical capacity by 45 percent and offering 25 percent more operating room capacity.

The building features six operating rooms, with space to expand to eight operating rooms in the future to accommodate the region's growing healthcare needs. Outpatient clinical services are co-located, which allows for increased collaboration between Grady's clinicians and staff. All waiting areas and infusion bays feature floor-to-ceiling windows with city views, creating a healing and comfortable environment.

The layout of the facility, a joint venture by Skanska and H.J. Russell & Company, promotes a streamlined patient experience and provides access to quality care under one roof. The building also includes a four-story parking garage, giving patients easier access to their appointments.

The new pavilion was named in honor of A.D. "Pete" Correll, chairman emeritus of Georgia-Pacific and former chair of both the Grady Memorial Hospital Corporation and Grady Health Foundation boards of directors, who passed away in 2021. Correll led the effort to raise $96 million in private funding, which was matched by bond funding provided by DeKalb and Fulton counties.

"We are thrilled to see our vision for this beautiful new outpatient facility become a reality," said Shannon Sale, Grady's chief strategy officer. "We are grateful for the support of the philanthropic community and Fulton and DeKalb counties in making it possible for Grady to take the next step toward ensuring the Atlanta community continues to have access to the best possible care and cutting-edge technology that will help save lives."

Grady Health System is one of the largest safety net health systems in the United States. Grady consists of the 953-bed Grady Memorial Hospital, six neighborhood health centers, Crestview Health & Rehabilitation Center, and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding, which is operated as a Children's affiliate.

With its nationally acclaimed emergency medical services, Grady is Atlanta's only Level I trauma center and serves as the 911 ambulance provider for the city of Atlanta. Grady's Walter L. Ingram Burn Center is the leading burn center in north Georgia. And the Marcus Stroke and Neuroscience Center is a Joint Commission designated Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center.

Other key services/distinctions include Grady's Regional Perinatal Center with its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Georgia's first Cancer Center for Excellence, The Avon Comprehensive Breast Center, the Georgia Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center, and the Ponce de Leon Center - one of the top HIV/AIDS outpatient clinics in the country. Grady is one of an elite group of hospitals to earn the Baby-Friendly USA international recognition as a Baby-Friendly Designated birth facility.

The Brains Behind Hollywood's Success

The world-famous Hollywood film industry is one of the most successful industries in the world. The Hollywood film empire is renowned for its ability to tell stories that captivate audiences across the globe. Behind this success are countless individuals who work tirelessly to make each movie a success, from the directors, producers, and actors to crew members who work tirelessly to bring the film to life.

From the outside, it can be easy to think the Hollywood film industry is a faceless machine- in reality, the sector is made up of a diverse set of individuals who come from different backgrounds and experiences. These people bring their own unique perspectives and talents to the industry; such individuals are responsible for the success of the Hollywood film enterprise. At the centre of the Hollywood film industry are the directors, producers, and actors. While it is easy to recognize their contributions to the success of a movie, the behind-the-scenes crew members are equally as important.

From the production assistants who keep the production running smoothly to the plethora of camera operators who capture the perfect shot, the crew members are a crucial part of any movie's success. The art department is also incredibly important to the success of a film. The art directors set designers, and costume designers all have a role to play in bringing the story to life. They are responsible for creating the film’s visual world; it is their work that creates the movies’ atmosphere and mood.

The technical side of the film industry is equally as important. From sound engineers and visual effects artists to editors and cinematographers, these professionals are responsible for making sure the movie looks and sounds great. Without them, the movie would be a series of meaningless moving images on a screen. Also, there are film marketers and distributors who are responsible for getting the movie out to the public. From the publicity teams who work to create a buzz for the movie to the distribution companies who get the movie into theatres, these individuals are essential for ensuring the film reaches its audience.

In the end, it is these individuals’ combined efforts that make the Hollywood film industry the success it is today. Each of these professionals brings their own unique talents and perspectives to the table; it is their collective contributions that create the movies we love. Without them, Hollywood films would not be the success they are. So, the Hollywood film industry is seen as one of the most glamorous and successful in the world. Behind the glitz and the glamour, however, there is an entire team of talented and dedicated people who work tirelessly to make these films a reality.

Consider some of these players whose contribution is crucial:

The Writers: The writers are -perhaps- the most important part of the film-making process. They are the ones who create the story, characters, and dialogue that are the backbone of a movie. They bring the entire project to life and make it feel real. Without the writers, the story would never come to life. Next are the film directors: The directors are the ones who bring the script to life. It is their job to make sure the movie is visually compelling and that the actors are delivering their lines with the intended emotion. A good director will bring out the best in their actors, creating an atmosphere that draws in the audience.

The Producers: The producers are responsible for making sure the movie gets made. They are the ones who get the funding, assemble the cast and crew, and make sure the day-to-day operations of the movie run smoothly. Without the producers, the film would never get off the ground. The Actors: The actors are the ones who bring the characters to life. They deliver the lines with the right emotion and make sure the audience is invested in the story. Without the actors, the movie would feel two-dimensional and much less engaging.

The Cinematographers: cinematographers are the ones who make the movie look beautiful. They work with the director to find the best angles and lighting for the scenes; they make sure everything looks like it should. Hence cinematographers are a very integral part of the film-making process. Next are the editors: The editors take the footage and make it into a coherent movie. They determine which scenes work and which scenes don't-they ensure the movie flows smoothly. Without the editors, the movie would never be put together. Then there are sound engineers: Sound engineers create the movie’s atmosphere. They ensure the music, sound effects, and dialogue all feel natural; they make sure the audience has a complete experience. Without sound engineers, the movie would feel empty and unfinished.

These are the people who make up the Hollywood film industry. Without these talented and dedicated professionals, the movies we love would never exist. They are the unsung heroes of the industry- without them, the industry wouldn't be nearly as successful as it is.
