Tangled fans are in for a treat. Disney Channel has revealed the premiere date of Tangled Before Ever After and Tanged: The Series, a continuation of the 2010 film based on the Rapunzel fairy tale.
Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi will be back playing the role of Rapunzel and Eugene (formerly Flynn Rider) on March 10th with the debut of Tangled Before Ever After, a new Disney Channel Original Movie. The movie paves the way for Tangled: The Series, which officially kicks off a week after on March 24th.
To encourage fans to get excited for Tangled's return, stars Moore and Levi attempted to tease what fans can expect from Tangled.
"Songs and adventure and everything in between," said Moore. "I life like you get to know mom and dad a whole lot better, because family is important."
She also addressed the whole name-change with Levi's character: "And Flynn is now Eugene, but he's also still kind of Flynn, isn't he?"
They also tease some of the characters that will feature on the new series and the plot for the series and the movie, with the latter finding Rapunzel dealing with the responsibilities of being princess and the overprotective ways of her father. Rapunzel might love Eugene with all her heart, but she does not necessarily share his immediate desire to get married and settle down within the castle walls.
Guided by her desires, she and Cassandra embark on a secret adventure where they encounter mystical rocks that magically cause Rapunzel's long blonde hair to turn black.
Tangled is a 2010 American 3D computer-animated musical fantasy-comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The movie is inspired by German fairytale "Rapunzel" in the collection of folk tales published by the Brothers Grimm. IT marks the 50th Disney animated feature film.
The film tells the story of a young princess with long magical hair who dreams of leaving her isolated tower. Disobeying her mother, she accepts the aid of a handsome intruder to take her out into the world she is yet to discover.
The reason why the film is called Tangled and not Rapunzel is because the studio reportedly wanted to market the film as gender neutral.
It took six years to produce Tangled which cost an estimate of $260 million, making it the most expensive animated film ever made and the fifth most-expensive film of all time.
The film was innovative in blending together features of computer-generated imagery (CGI) and traditional animation while using non-photorealistic rendering to create the impression of a painting.
The film may have been expensive but it earned the spendings back and more, amassing $591 million in worldwide box office revenue, $200 million of which was earned in the United States and Canada.
The film was also nominated for a number of awards, including Best Original Song at the 83rd Academy Awards. A short film, Tangled Ever After, was release later in 2012.
