ABC News recently unearthed an interview with Rebel Force Radio podcast from April 2010. In the interview, the late actress Carrie Fisher talked about a very specific way she'd like to be remembered. It involves the Academy Awards, the In Memoriam segment, her "Star Wars" co-star Harrison Ford, and wookiees... yes, you read that correctly.
"I saw him on Oscar night at some party," Fished said of Ford. "And I asked him - you know how they have the reel on all the people who have died? I asked him if he would be in my death reel, and if he would sing. It's just something I want."
Fisher told the hosts of the podcast that her unusual request was inspired by the 2010 Oscars tribute to writer and director John Hughes, which saw several actors from his films honor him onstage.
"Because they did that think with John Hugues, they brought out all these actors who worked with him. So, I figured they'll bring out, depending on, of course, when it happens, there's a lot of people they can bring out. He's going to sing ‘Melancholy Wookie'," Fished said.
When asked what song she would like Harrison to sing at the Academy Awards, she said:
"He's going to sing ‘Melancholy Wookiee,'" Fisher quipped in the interview, before mocking the actor's voice. "I don't think we're missing much," she said.
The truth is that Carrie Fisher never lost her sense of humor, not even she talked about her own death. "I tell my younger friends that no matter how I go, I want it reported that I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra."
